Vinyl record sales at 10-year high
Vinyl record sales are at a 10-year high with releases from Daft Punk, Arctic Monkeys and David Bowie driving demand, new figures show.
They have crossed the half-million mark already this year, the first time this has been achieved since 2003, and sales have doubled in a year.
Music fans have bought 550,000 vinyl albums so far this year, according to analysis of Official Charts Company data by recording industry body the BPI.
BPI chief executive Geoff Taylor said: "The LP is back in the groove. We're witnessing a renaissance for records - they're no longer retromania and are becoming the format of choice for more and more music fans. "
Daft Punk's Random Access Memories is the biggest selling vinyl album this year, with AM by Arctic Monkeys the second most popular buy.
Oasis's second album (What's the Story) Morning Glory is the most popular vinyl release of the past 20 years, with the band's debut Definitely Maybe at number two.
