1D debut at American Music Awards

One Direction are set to give their debut performance at the American Music Awards next month.

The boy band have been confirmed as one of the acts appearing on stage at the event and it will mark their first time playing the awards, E! News has reported.

As well as One Direction, Miley Cyrus will be performing at the awards, which take place in Los Angeles on November 24.

Macklemore and Ryan Lewis have the most nominations, with six each, while Taylor Swift and Justin Timberlake are just behind with five nominations apiece.

Taylor, who had a brief fling with One Direction's Harry Styles, has been nominated for Favourite Female Artist and Favourite Album, while Justin is up for Favourite Male Artist Soul/RnB and Favourite Soul/RnB Album.
