1D unfazed by live tech glitches

One Direction managed to keep their cool during One Direction Day, despite a host of technical difficulties.

The lads took part in a seven-hour live stream where they chatted to fans, sang and had a visit from Simon Cowell and his pregnant girlfriend Lauren Silverman, but the show was littered with technical problems according to the Daily Mirror.

Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson and Liam Payne managed to stay calm and collected despite video link-ups not working, their big screen Twitter feed not refreshing, being unable to hear fans' questions and trying to speak to a dog that refused to bark back.

Simon, making an appearance on the webcast, reminded fans that he was the brains behind the band.

He said: "It was my idea [to put you guys together]. It was really weird... I just said, 'Why don't we put these guys into a group?' It took about 10 minutes! I was disappointed because I thought all of you were going to go through as solo artists."

The music mogul also told Billboard magazine: "Eventually they probably will split up and maybe want to have their own careers. The choice is theirs, we've got the opportunity to do both. But from what I hear, they're really enjoying what they're doing.

"We don't feel there's anything wrong. They're getting more time off, I hope they stay a band for a long time."

One Direction fans also saw the band perform their new single, Story Of My Life, on The X Factor at the weekend although it had been pre-recorded a week before.
