Young lined up for Hyde Park gig

Neil Young is to be among the headliners for next year's British Summer Time festival in London's Hyde Park.

The 68-year-old rock veteran will be accompanied by his band Crazy Horse, with whom he has been regularly collaborating for four and a half decades, at the concert on July 12.

Young, who last played Hyde Park in 2009, will be supported by The National and Tom Odell at the show which is part of a 10-day series of concerts.

The Canadian star - famed for tracks such as Heart Of Gold, Like A Hurricane and Hey Hey, My My (Into the Black) - had to cancel some UK dates this year as a result of an injury to guitarist Frank Sampedro.

For his last Hyde Park show, Young was joined on stage by old friend Sir Paul McCartney who performed The Beatles' A Day In The Life.

The event - officially called Barclaycard presents British Summer Time Hyde Park - launched this year after promoter AEG Live won the contract to stage gigs in the park.

Headliners this summer included The Rolling Stones and one of the shows was turned into a free event when Sir Elton John was forced to pull out due to illness only days beforehand.

Tickets go on sale generally on December 13, but there are some available from December 11, with further details at bst-hydepark.com.
