NewsJune, 1 Prophets of Rage make live debut in Los AngelesProphets of Rage made their live debut in Los Angeles on Tuesday (31.05.16) night . The group, which is comprised of Rage Against the Machine's Tom Morello, Tim Commerford, Brad Wilk, Public Enemy's Chuck D and DJ Lord, and Cypress Hill's B-Real performed a last-minute charity concert at The Whisky A Go Go with the proceeds going to P.A.T.H. (People Assisting The Homeless). The group have vowed to "take the power back" with "dangerous" songs. A statement issued to BANG Showbiz read: "Prophets of Rage combines the sonic firepower of Rage Against the Machine, Public Enemy and Cypress Hill. We can no longer stand on the sidelines of history. Dangerous times demand dangerous songs. It's time to take the power back. It's time to make America RAGE again." The new outfit - which insist they are not a "supergroup"- joined forces to perform a selection of songs from each group and a new song called 'The Party Is Over'. The band have also announced that those unable to attend Tuesday's sold out performance will have another chance to see them as they will also perform at The Hollywood Palladium on Friday (03.06.16). Talking about how the group came together and what to expect, Rage's Tom explained to Rolling Stone magazine: "We're not a supergroup. We're an elite task force of revolutionary musicians determined to confront this mountain of election year bulls***, and confront it head-on with Marshall stacks blazing." The band's live show comes after they teased fans with a new website prophetsofrage.com which contained a mysterious countdown timer to June 1. Prophets of Rage doesn't not include Rage Against the Machine's frontman Zach de la Rocha, but Tim revealed he's given them his "blessing" proceed without him. He previously said: "I spoke to Zack and got his blessing and that's really great."
