GloRilla arrested on drug possession charges

GloRilla has been arrested on felony drug charges after police allegedly discovered marijuana and a controlled substance at her home.

The Yeah Glo! rapper "voluntarily turned herself in to the Forsyth County Jail" on Tuesday, according to a statement provided to People magazine by the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office.

The musician was charged with felony possession of marijuana and possession of schedule one controlled substance.

GloRilla has since been released on a $22,260 (£16,500) bond.

Her arrest came after police responded to calls regarding a break-in at her Georgia home in the early hours of Sunday morning.

"It was reported that three suspects had entered the home and were in the process of stealing items when an armed occupant fired at the intruders," the police statement read.

"The suspects fled the scene, and it does not appear that any of them were struck. No injuries were reported among the home's occupants."

GloRilla, real name Gloria Hallelujah Woods, was not present at the time of the attempted burglary.

"While on scene, deputies detected a strong odour consistent with illegal narcotics. As a result, the Lanier Regional Drug Task Force was contacted and responded to the residence," police said.

After obtaining a search warrant, "a significant amount of marijuana" was located in the wardrobe of GloRilla's master bedroom.

Police have been unable to locate the burglary suspects.
