Carl Barât Joins The Molotovs at Kentish Town Show

The Molotovs wrapped up their second sold-out night at the O2 Forum Kentish Town on Saturday, September 26th, with a little help from a familiar face. Carl Barât of The Libertines stepped out for a surprise guest spot alongside siblings Matt, 18, and Issey Cartlidge, 20, tearing through the anthem What A Waster.

The guest appearance carried extra weight for the band. Five years to the day earlier, a much younger Molotovs had played their very first show at the same North London venue, opening for The Libertines. Barât first crossed paths with the teenage duo while they were busking in the rain close to The Libertines' Albion Rooms hotel in Margate. Looking back on how far they have come, he called them a genuine force for good in music, pointing out that they built their career the old-fashioned way: endless busking, supporting bigger acts, and eventually selling out two nights at the Forum on their own.

The past five years have been a whirlwind for the group, with more than 600 live performances, tours abroad and a top-three debut album to their name. Speaking to the packed room, bassist Issey thanked the fans for their support and said that while hitting 600 gigs is a huge milestone, it is only a stepping stone rather than the finish line.

With their national tour winding down, attention is turning to their second studio album, Welcome To Urbia, which is up for pre-order now and due out on April 9th, 2027.

UK audiences will get another chance to see them soon. This autumn, The Molotovs will support Razorlight on a major tour that begins November 26th at Glasgow's O2 Academy. The run will visit big cities across the country, including a huge arena date at London's OVO Arena Wembley on December 4th, before finishing up in Belfast and Dublin.
