NewsOctober, 11 Barry Manilow Cancels Vegas Shows After Bronchitis
Barry Manilow has called off his latest Las Vegas performance after cutting Friday night's show short. The cancellation came only two days after the singer made his long-awaited return to his Vegas residency on Thursday, following a six-week break. Manilow has been undergoing treatment for lung cancer, which he revealed last December. "After a triumphant welcome-back concert on Thursday, Barry got hit with bronchitis and had to cancel his Friday and Saturday shows," a representative for the musician told Variety. Manilow did take the stage on Friday, but reportedly wrapped up after just a few songs, telling the crowd, "Talk amongst yourselves," before leaving. The night before, he had declared from the stage, "I'm back!" The Vegas residency had originally been set to start in February, but was pushed back several times while the singer dealt with cancer and earlier rounds of bronchitis. In May, the Copacabana singer shared on social media, "Good news! I went to the doctor yesterday, and he said I'm making great progress and look great! Well, of course I do! Thank you very much! All the training and exercising I've put in is paying off. He did say, however, that I'm not quite ready for Vegas. That means I won't be able to return for our May shows." So far, Manilow has not commented on the latest cancellations.
