NewsOctober, 13 Chris Brown housekeeper seeks arrest warrant
Maria Avila, who used to clean for Chris Brown, is asking a court to issue an arrest warrant for the singer so she can finally collect the money she was awarded. Court papers obtained by TMZ show that Avila, who won millions over a 2020 dog attack at Brown's Los Angeles home, wants the warrant because the singer has not given her lawyers any dates to look over his finances. So far, none of the $9.5 million (£7.2 million) judgment has been paid. Avila was attacked by a large dog outside the home of the It Depends singer while she was taking out the rubbish. Two weeks ago, she agreed to a smaller payout after the judge in the case called the jury's original award of $12.9 million (£9.8 million) "excessive" and suggested the lower figure. "Maria Avila hereby unequivocally accepts and consents to the reduction of her damages award," her lawyer wrote in a notice of acceptance. Both Brown and Avila gave evidence at the original trial in Los Angeles in June. Avila cried as she told jurors about the 12 December 2020 attack at the Under The Influence singer's home in the Tarzana area. She said the mauling left her with serious injuries to her arm and face, widespread scarring and post-traumatic stress disorder. "I will never be the same again," she said.
