Ella Langley Reclaims US No. 1 From Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift's Patient Zero has lost its grip on the top of the US Billboard Hot 100 after three weeks at No. 1.

Back in first place is Ella Langley's Choosin' Texas, which now has 25 non-consecutive weeks at the summit – a record.

Tate McRae's Housewife made a strong start at No. 2, while the Olivia Rodrigo and Chappell Roan remix of Expectations lands at No. 3. The Zach Bryan and Lana Del Rey duet Lies is at No. 4, and Patient Zero slips to fifth.

Choosin' Texas had already overtaken the previous record, set by Mariah Carey's All I Want for Christmas Is You, when it logged its 23rd week on top in late September. Even so, Carey's holiday staple is widely expected to take No. 1 again in the run-up to Christmas, as it tends to do.

In a video on Instagram, Ella reflected on making US chart history and thanked her fans for sticking with her. "I'm genuinely trying to find the words to help explain what's going on in my brain today," she said. "Thank you so much for loving this song, for listening to it... I'm running out of hyperboles to describe how I feel."

The 27-year-old also pointed out that the song's success has touched more than her own life – it has done the same for her co-writers, Miranda Lambert, Luke Dick and Joybeth Taylor. "Just thank you so much, it's changing my life, it's changing the lives of the writers of this song. It's changing the lives of my family, and it is truly growing an atmosphere for something I'm gonna be able to do the rest of my life," she said.
