NewsOctober, 21 Charli XCX cancels Arizona show after losing her voice
Charli XCX has called off a concert at short notice because of illness. In a message shared on her Instagram Stories on Tuesday, the singer explained that her Music, Fashion, Film Tour date at the Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona, would not go ahead on Wednesday. She said she had been battling sickness through this stretch of shows and had now lost her voice entirely. The singer added that she gives everything to her performances, physically and emotionally, and that not being able to appear the following night was painful for her. Charli, whose full name is Charlotte Aitchison, said her team had looked into moving the concert to a different date but in the end could not make it work. Anyone holding a ticket will get a refund automatically. She also told her "Arizona angels" that she hopes to see them at some point down the line. In the same post, the 34-year-old apologised to fans who had already arranged to be there, saying she understands how much time, planning and care goes into attending a show and that she is deeply grateful for the support she receives. For now, Charli is still set to perform at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Friday. That date closes the North American run of the Music, Fashion, Film Tour, and the British artist is due to play 11 further shows in early 2027. There was more disappointing news for concertgoers elsewhere, as Lily Allen also pulled a show scheduled for Wednesday night at Spark Arena in Auckland, New Zealand. Writing on Instagram, the 41-year-old told her "West End Girls" in Auckland that a viral infection had left her unable to perform. She said she had been looking forward to the gig and felt terrible about letting people down.
