NewsOctober, 21 Sia wins primary custody of her two-year-old son
Sia has been given primary physical custody of her two-year-old son, following a custody dispute with her estranged husband, Dan Bernad. Court papers obtained by People magazine show that Judge Firdaus Dordi awarded physical custody on the basis of an agreement reached by the former couple. Under that arrangement, Bernad shares legal custody and has regular visitation, plus special days and holidays as set out in the deal. The two were married from 2023 to 2025. They settled the question of child support several months ago, with the singer agreeing to pay Bernad $42,500 (£31,767) a month for the care of young Somersault Wonder. Back in September, Sia sold half of her music catalogue for $180 million (£134 million). Documents showed she received $165 million (£123 million) for the songs she wrote before marrying Bernad, among them Cheap Thrills and Chandelier. He has reportedly agreed to give up any claim to that money in exchange for a one-off $1 million (£750,000) settlement. Sia filed for divorce in March 2025, almost a year after their son was born. It was announced recently that the Titanium singer will receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame next year.
