NewsSeptember, 1 Lionel Richie Hospitalized After St. Louis Show
Lionel Richie was admitted to intensive care shortly after his performance in St. Louis on Saturday. According to TMZ, the move was precautionary, with doctors investigating possible dehydration. The Grammy winner's hospitalization came during his Sing a Song All Night Long tour with Earth, Wind & Fire. During the show, he asked his team to bring him a chair while he performed his final song, All Night Long. The American Idol judge had previously cut a concert short in St. Paul, Minnesota, on 24 June after falling ill on stage. At that show, which was the first of the tour, Richie told the crowd he felt dizzy and performed Dancing on the Ceiling while seated, as reported by the Minnesota Star Tribune. “When you're feeling dizzy, sit your ass down,” he joked, before sitting at a piano to perform Three Times a Lady and then taking an impromptu intermission. Richie, father of TV star Nicole Richie, postponed two shows after that incident, following doctors' advice to “rest and return to full health.” He later assured fans he was “doing well” in an Instagram post, thanking everyone for their messages and love. Richie is next scheduled to perform on 26 September in San Francisco.
