Cher Slams Daughter-in-Law as Fame Seeker

Cher has publicly criticized her daughter-in-law, describing her as someone chasing fame and fortune. The singer filed court documents opposing Marieangela King-Allman's bid to become the guardian of her son, Elijah Blue Allman.

Elijah, 50, is currently held in a psychiatric facility in New Hampshire, facing multiple criminal charges from two separate incidents: one involving a break-in and another where he caused a disturbance at a local prep school's dining hall.

Although Elijah and Marieangela are still legally married, Cher's legal team argues they have been estranged for a long time. The documents, filed by Cher's lawyer Justin Gold, state that the family strongly opposes Marieangela's appointment, citing her estrangement from Elijah and her lack of support during his struggles before his arrest. The filing also suggests she is "inserting herself back into the picture on a quest for money and/or a bit of fame."

Kayti Pease, also known as Kayti Edwards, is the mother of Elijah's 15-year-old daughter, Ever, who only learned of her paternity in March after Elijah's mental-health collapse. Kayti told The Sun in April that Elijah wanted to see his daughter but was not in a fit state, and she had to shelter Ever from him. She added that Cher is very protective of Ever and the family dynamic, and both agree that Elijah needs to get better.

In her recent filing, Cher claimed Marieangela did nothing to help Elijah after his arrests and hospitalization, despite repeated requests from Kayti. The filing states that Marieangela never lifted a finger to help, even though she was supposedly his spouse, and now sees a financial opportunity to control his income through a conservatorship.
