Squeeze Cancel U.S. Show After Tragic Accident

Squeeze called off a concert in the United States on Thursday following the tragic death of a worker who was crushed by their tour bus.

The band, led by Glenn Tilbrook, had been scheduled to perform that evening in Vienna, Virginia, as part of a series of shows with Adam Ant and Haircut 100.

Just hours before they were to take the stage at the Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts, the group announced the cancellation, expressing deep sadness and shock over the incident. They said that after consulting with venue officials and authorities, they decided not to go ahead with the performance.

Local news outlet Fox 5 reported that a member of the road crew died after the vehicle he was working on collapsed on top of him. Police said he was pronounced dead at the scene, and they attributed the accident, which happened in the venue's parking lot, to a failure of supporting equipment.

A venue spokesperson also released a statement, confirming the accident and the cancellation out of respect for the victim.

Squeeze mentioned that they would work with the promoter and venue to explore the possibility of rescheduling the show, and they promised to share more information with ticket holders as soon as it becomes available. Their thoughts, they said, remain with everyone affected by the tragedy.

Despite the incident, the band's tour is expected to continue as planned, with a show in Ohio on Friday and additional dates in Illinois, Colorado, Utah, California, and other states throughout the month, before they return to the U.K. in November.
