Sabrina Carpenter and Bad Bunny Win First Emmys

Bad Bunny and Sabrina Carpenter have reached new career heights by winning their first Emmy Awards.

Bad Bunny took home the Emmy for Outstanding Variety Special (Live) thanks to his performance and production work on the Super Bowl LX Halftime Show in February. That show was a big winner of the night, collecting seven awards in total.

Sabrina Carpenter earned her first Emmy for The Muppet Show special. The February TV special won four of its six nominations, including Best Variety Special (Pre-Recorded).

Neither artist attended the Los Angeles ceremony, which brought them both halfway to EGOT status.

“Thank you ©televisionacad,” Carpenter wrote on her Instagram Story. “So incredibly proud of the whole muppets crew on our Emmy wins! A lot of love and happiness and hard work and diva fights went into making this special.”

The honors were presented during the first of three Emmy celebration nights. The Television Academy has renamed what used to be the Creative Arts Emmy Awards as Emmys Night 1 and Night 2 this year.

Other winners included The Traitors and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. A tearful Mariska Hargitay took home Emmys for best documentary and for directing My Mom Jayne.

Hargitay is set to host the Primetime Emmys next Monday.

The two ceremonies this weekend will be edited into a single show airing on 12 September ahead of the Primetime Awards.
