Snoop Dogg to Host 2026 MTV VMAs

Snoop Dogg is set to take on hosting duties at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards. The rapper, whose real name is Calvin Broadus, shared the news on Thursday, confirming the ceremony will take place at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on 27 September.

Looking back on his long relationship with the network, he said MTV and the VMAs had been part of his story from the start, and that some of his biggest career moments happened on that stage. According to Snoop, the platform gave hip-hop room to be loud, fearless and visible to the entire world, which makes returning to host feel like a full-circle moment.

He also spoke warmly about working with producer Van Toffler, saying their shared history from the early MTV days makes the gig even more exciting. The 54-year-old added that the VMAs have always been defined by unforgettable moments, and promised a few more this time around.

Across his career, Snoop has received 13 VMA nominations and taken home three awards. He first appeared at the ceremony in 1994, winning Best Rap Video for Doggy Dogg World.

Madonna tops this year's nominations with 11, ahead of Taylor Swift on nine. Ariana and Sabrina Carpenter each earned seven nods, while Nirvana will receive the Video Vanguard Award.
