Naked Eyes Frontman Peter Byrne Dies at 74

Peter Byrne, the frontman of Naked Eyes, has died at 74. The singer and songwriter passed away peacefully in Los Angeles on Monday after a brief illness, a press release announced.

Byrne is survived by his three children, Merlin, Dylan and Chloe, and his ex-wife, Elena.

Born in North London, he formed Naked Eyes with keyboardist Rob Fisher and signed to EMI Records in 1982.

The duo's debut album, titled Burning Bridges in the UK and Naked Eyes in the US, was recorded at Abbey Road Studios and peaked at No. 32 on the Billboard 200 in 1983.

Their biggest hit came with a synth-pop version of Burt Bacharach and Hal David's Always Something There to Remind Me, which reached No. 8 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1983.

Fisher died in 1999 at 42 from complications after surgery for bowel cancer.

Byrne carried on the Naked Eyes legacy, writing, recording and touring in the US and internationally. His final live performance with the group was on 6 June at the Totally '80s Pool Party in Las Vegas.
