NewsSeptember, 7 Punk Documentary Hits UK Cinemas in September
Screenbound Pictures has confirmed that the feature documentary 50 Years of Punk will be released in UK cinemas on 18 September 2026. Directed by Mark Sloper, known for Sid! By The People Who Knew Him and The Story of Skids: Scotland’s No.1 Punk Band, the 78-minute film marks five decades since punk exploded on London’s King's Road. It offers an insider perspective on how the movement grew beyond music into a lasting ethos of individuality, creativity, authenticity, and personal freedom. The documentary combines archival footage with exclusive interviews from key figures of the era, including Glen Matlock, Vivienne Westwood, Hugh Cornwell, Dave Vanian, Rat Scabies, Gaye Advert, Richard Jobson, Jah Wobble, Terry Chimes, Tony James, and Viv Albertine. Before the nationwide rollout, a special preview screening with a live Q&A featuring director Mark Sloper will take place at the Showroom Cinema in Sheffield on Wednesday, 16 September 2026, at 8:00 PM. The documentary leads a slate of punk-related releases from Screenbound Pictures, including a new 4K restoration UHD limited edition Blu-ray of the 1980 classic Rude Boy, alongside existing physical home video editions of The Story of Skids: Scotland’s No.1 Punk Band and Harley Flanagan: Wired for Chaos. 50 Years of Punk opens in UK cinemas on 18 September 2026, with tickets and venue details available through participating local picturehouses and Screenbound Pictures.
