Raye, Sombr, Teddy Swims honour George Michael

Raye, Sombr and Teddy Swims are set to join forces for a tribute to pop legend George Michael at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards.

The tribute to the late star, still one of the best-selling artists of all time, arrives 40 years after his landmark album Faith and just before the global release of the live album George Michael: The Faith Tour on 6 November.

A feature-length film, George Michael: The Faith Tour, will premiere in European cinemas on the same day.

Raye will make her VMAs performance debut, both solo and as part of the tribute. The two-time VMAs winner is nominated twice this year, including a Song of the Year nod for Where Is My Husband!.

Sombr is back on the VMAs stage and has three nominations, among them Song of the Summer.

Teddy Swims also returns to the VMAs stage for the first time since 2024, when he was a four-time nominee.

Michael himself won four VMAs and received the Video Vanguard Award in 1989.

This year's nominations are led by Madonna and Taylor Swift, with Ariana Grande and Sabrina Carpenter close behind.

Nirvana will be given the coveted Video Vanguard Award at this year's ceremony.

Hosted by Snoop Dogg, the 2026 VMAs will air live from Los Angeles' Peacock Theatre on the evening of Sunday 27 September US time.
