Lisa Opens Up About Her Solo Career Journey

Lisa of Blackpink has spoken candidly about the early days of her solo career, admitting she felt lost at the beginning.

The K-pop group's members – Jennie, Lisa, Jisoo and Rosé – all pursued their own projects in 2024. Lisa's first solo studio album, Alter Ego, arrived in February 2025.

In a chat with Variety about her documentary Always Lalisa, which captures that hectic year, the Thai rapper said starting out on her own left her feeling "a little scared at first".

"I tried a lot of stuff during Blackpink – we've been through everything together – but when it comes to the year break, at first I was a little scared because I didn't know how to start," she explained.

The Pink Venom singer added that having no one to point her toward the next "road to go down" was tough.

"At first, it was like, 'What should I do? What should I do?!'" she recalled, noting that "little by little" she built up "a lot of confidence and learned so much on my own".

Beyond her debut album, she performed a James Bond theme at the 2025 Academy Awards, made her acting debut in the third season of The White Lotus and took the stage at Coachella in 2025.

"It's been such a great journey for me, and I feel like my solo career just started," she said.

Following their break, Blackpink came back together last year for a world tour and put out their Deadline EP in February.

Always Lalisa gets a limited U.S. cinema release on 12 October, before landing on YouTube Premium later in the year.
