NewsOctober, 10 Megan Thee Stallion on Voice Acting Challenges
Megan Thee Stallion has spoken about how voice acting differs from making music. The rapper, known for the hit Savage, has partnered with Carl Jones, a producer on The Boondocks, to develop an original anime series titled Hotties. She shared the news on Instagram in February, writing, "YALL ITS HAPPENINGGGG! My anime is coming together so beautifully Carl Jones is a GENIUS!!! Can't wait for thee hotties to meet the HOTTIES." In a chat with InStyle about the project's progress, she said that voicing a character is "really different" from her work as a singer. "Going in the studio and being Megan Thee Stallion, like, I can record something and I know what voice I'm going to do it in. Boom. This is what it sounds like over the track. That is easy. But voice acting for a character is really different," the 31-year-old explained. She went on to describe her early reaction to hearing her own performance: "When I saw it back the first time, I was like, Oh hell no. I did that way too dry. I got to be more animated. I got to make my inflection different here and there." She also noted, "I've been having a lot of fun doing my voice acting." Beyond voice work, the triple Grammy winner is taking on more traditional acting roles. Her upcoming projects include The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins with Daniel Radcliffe, the 2026 comedy Roommates, and a run in Moulin Rouge! on Broadway. Hotties is set to stream exclusively on Prime Video, though no official release date has been announced.
