Zara Larsson Slams White House Over ICE Video

Zara Larsson has spoken out after The White House used her hit Midnight Sun as the soundtrack to its latest anti-immigration social media video.

The Trump administration shared a TikTok clip on Wednesday night, pairing a montage of United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents arresting and deporting immigrants with her 2025 breakthrough song.

The Lush Life singer responded quickly with a TikTok video of her own, opening it by making the "loser" gesture with her fingers.

"It really makes me sad to see that, genuinely, my heart's heavy," she told her followers. "'Cause I wish I could speak to whoever made this video. I wish I could talk to you. And I wish I could help you remember that you and I, we aren't that different. At all. And we're not that different from the people in this video, either. The biggest difference between us is that we were dealt a different hand in life."

The 28-year-old said she was fortunate to be born in Sweden and to have access to education and healthcare, while others are "not that lucky".

"They want to have a better life for their families, or for themselves and their children. And I just don't understand how it could be the worst thing in the world to be an undocumented immigrant," she continued. "And a vast majority of these people who are undocumented are regular people with jobs, and they're just trying to have a better future."

Calling the video "dehumanising", Zara said, "I don't understand why you would do this video... And this just creates this massive divide between people. I just don't get it. Like, it's just so f**king uncool... You guys are such f**king losers. Like, it's crazy."

The White House's video is still on its TikTok page.

Plenty of other artists have objected to their music being used in pro-Trump social media posts, among them Ariana Grande, Katy Perry, Noah Kahan, Sabrina Carpenter and Olivia Rodrigo.
