National Album Day 2026: Icons and Limited Pressings

National Album Day has revealed its biggest collection yet of limited-edition releases and reissues for its yearly celebration, set for Saturday, 17th October 2026. This ninth edition takes 'Icons' as its theme, with exclusive pressings from acts such as George Michael, Pink Floyd, The Who, New Order, The Pretenders, Suede, Pulp and Sade.

BBC Radio 2 and BBC Sounds are presenting the event, which honours the album format in both physical and digital music retail. The 2026 slate covers many genres, with strictly limited coloured vinyls, anniversary editions and special formats aimed at collectors and younger listeners alike.

Among the reissues are a limited release of George Michael's Listen Without Prejudice, a 40th anniversary edition of The Pretenders' Get Close, and a 60th anniversary red vinyl pressing of The Who's My Generation. Pink Floyd's Meddle, New Order's Brotherhood and a Zoetrope vinyl edition of Suede's 1996 album Coming Up also feature. Other notable titles include 50th-anniversary editions of Bob Dylan's Desire on Cypress Green marbled vinyl and Donna Summer's Four Seasons Of Love, plus special pressings for Bryan Ferry's Boys and Girls, Goldie's Timeless and Aretha Franklin's Aretha's Gold.

To champion the cultural value of the long-player, National Album Day has named Spice Girl Melanie C, hitmaker PinkPantheress and composer Max Richter CBE as its official Album Champions for 2026. More artist champions will be announced before October.

The BPI and ERA organise National Album Day together, with the aim of bringing record labels, independent record shops and high street retailers together to encourage album discovery. Every exclusive title will be on sale at participating physical and online music retailers across the UK on Saturday, 17th October 2026, and full pre-order details can be found through the official National Album Day platform.
