Macklemore Streams Surge After Tour Exit

Macklemore has enjoyed a sharp rise in streaming numbers since he was dropped from Ed Sheeran's current stadium tour.

His 2024 track Hind's Hall – titled after the Columbia University hall renamed in memory of a five-year-old Palestinian girl killed by Israeli forces – drew the most attention early this week, just as word spread that he had been removed from Sheeran's Loop Tour.

On Sunday the song had a little over 5,000 official on-demand US streams. By Tuesday that figure had climbed to almost 87,000, based on early data from Luminate cited by Billboard.

That made it the song's strongest daily streaming count in over two years, since it came out on 5 June 2024.

The rest of Macklemore's catalogue also picked up significantly.

After Macklemore's removal and Sheeran's response, Irish singer-songwriter Aaron Rowe became the next Loop Tour participant to speak out. On Tuesday he said that despite his friendship with Sheeran, he too would leave the tour, adding: "I would lose all respect for myself to carry on as normal."

Rowe, who has had a fairly low profile in the US until now, posted the best American streaming day of his career, collecting close to 80,000 official on-demand US streams across his catalogue on Tuesday, according to Luminate – a rise of 2,665% from the previous day.

Sheeran himself pulled in just over 3.7 million official on-demand US streams on Tuesday, roughly level with Monday's total.
