Raye Blasts Ticket Touts Over Fake Sign-Ups

Raye has spoken out against ticket touts who flooded the sign-up for her upcoming Royal Albert Hall performance with fake registrations.

The singer posted on social media on Tuesday to share her frustration, explaining that scalpers had used AI bots to register for the pre-sale of her one-off show on 23 October.

Only 5,000 tickets are available, and Raye said she worried that genuine fans would be unable to buy them at a fair price.

"We received 1.8 million sign-ups for 5,000 seats for This Symphony May Contain Hope," she wrote on Instagram.

"Sadly our sign-up process was overwhelmed by scalpers, using AI bots to create hundreds of thousands of fake registrations.

"It is a new world we are living in now, I have never witnessed bots on this scale. It is so important to me that fans can buy tickets at the face value price," she added.

The This Symphony May Contain Hope concert will feature songs from Raye's chart-topping second album, This Music May Contain Hope.

To stop touts from profiting by reselling seats at inflated prices, Raye and her team came up with a different approach.

"Rather than risk opening a presale that scalpers could exploit, we felt the best and safest solution for this specific show was to manually review the sign-up list to identify a shortlist of people we believe are real fans," she explained.

Those chosen have been sent a presale link and code by email today, while any remaining tickets will go on general sale.

Raye also admitted the situation had made her fear that real fans will not be able to pay a fair price to see their favourite artists live.

"I'm not sure what the future holds for ticketing, I do know this experience has really opened my eyes. Me and my team are going to think really hard about what we can do in the future. Lots of love, Raye," she concluded.
