Keffe D sentenced to 40 years to life in Tupac murder

Duane 'Keffe D' Davis has been given a sentence of 40 years to life in prison. The man convicted of helping to arrange the murder of hip-hop icon Tupac Shakur over three decades ago learned his fate on Tuesday, ABC News reports.

Davis is the only person ever convicted in connection with Shakur's death. The former Southside Crips gang leader was found guilty of murder – not for allegedly firing the shots himself, but for ordering the shooting.

Shakur's killing stands as one of the most notorious crimes in pop culture history. Although Davis had been linked to the case for years, he was not arrested until 2023.

A semi-autobiographical memoir called Compton Street Legend, in which he said he supplied the gun, became a crucial piece of evidence in both the investigation and the trial.

In that 2019 book, Davis called himself "one of the only living eyewitnesses to Tupac's killing" and wrote that he felt "a deep sense of remorse for what happened". He later backed away from the memoir, claiming he didn't write all of it and that some parts were made up to boost sales.

Davis pleaded not guilty to the murder charge. Days after his conviction, he told The Hollywood Reporter, "I'm not no f**king killer."
