Ozzy and Black Sabbath concert film heads to cinemas

A concert film capturing Ozzy Osbourne's last live performance and the first reunion of the original Black Sabbath lineup in more than twenty years is coming to cinemas. Trafalgar Releasing and Mercury Studios have announced a worldwide theatrical run for OZZY & BLACK SABBATH: BACK TO THE BEGINNING, starting 28 October 2026 for a limited time. Tickets go on sale on Thursday, 24 September.

The footage was shot at a sold-out stadium show at Birmingham's Villa Park on 5 July 2025, only 17 days before Osbourne died. The homecoming event began with a solo set from Ozzy, after which he took the stage with bandmates Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward for Black Sabbath's final performance together in the city where heavy metal was born.

Sharon Osbourne supervised the project, and Tom Morello, guitarist with Rage Against the Machine, served as musical director. A long list of guests and supporting acts took part, among them Metallica, Guns N' Roses, Slayer, Tool, Pantera and Alice in Chains. Iommi has described the show as a fitting way for the band to close, while Butler recalled the atmosphere on stage as a tangible wave of pure love.

Ben Wainwright-Pearce, whose credits include Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, directed the film for the screen, with Tim van Someren handling live concert direction. Alongside the complete concert, the release includes behind-the-scenes footage and reflections from the musicians involved. It was engineered for the big screen and will be shown in Dolby Atmos and 5.1 surround sound.

For fans around the world, the film is a last chance to celebrate the legacy of the Prince of Darkness and heavy metal's founding pioneers. Tickets for cinemas worldwide go on sale at 3pm BST on 24 September 2026 through the official event website.
